Crabs take series against the Rogues 3-1, but Medford wins last game 6-4 in front of more than 700 Crabs fans on Wednesday night

ARCATA — The Crabs stayed in the game after four scoreless innings and didn’t give up after being down 4-1 in the eighth inning. Humboldt rallied back in the bottom of the eighth and tacked on 3 more runs to tie the game at 4-4. Humboldt’s late rally had the Crabs faithful on their feet.
In the ninth inning with the game tied at four, the Rogues Tyler Horner doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring two more runs quieting the 715 fans at the Arcata Ball Park on Wednesday night. The Rogues earned their first victory against the Crabs this summer with a 6-4 final score.
The Crabs beat the Rogues the night before 4-3. The Crabs are now 32-7 on the summer campaign with only 8 more games to go. The final Crabs game will be on Sunday, Aug. 6. The Rogues finish up their summer this weekend up in Medford with the Alaska Goldpanners in town.
Troon Eakin earned the win for the Rogues. The pitcher went one and one-third innings, allowing three runs on two hits. Caughlin Shults and Aaron Platner entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Platner recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Medford.
Colton Wuelfling took the loss for Crabs. The bulldog allowed four hits and five runs over one and one-third innings, walking one.
Will Clair started the game for Medford. The hurler went five innings, allowing one run on five hits, striking out two and walking one. Caleb Ruiz started the game for Crabs. The hurler allowed four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out four and walking one.
Kawana Soares went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Crabs in hits.
The Rogues racked up nine hits. Aidan Dougherty and Horner each had multiple hits for Medford.
