Crabs and Rogues play two-game series in Arcata
ARCATA — TUESDAY, JULY 25, 2023
Crabs beat Rogues in extras 4-3. This is the third victory for the Crabs against Medford with a potential 4-game sweep tomorrow at the Arcata Ball Park. Game time is at 7pm. Gates open at 6pm. Special Event: Wine Wednesday with Cabot Vineyards at the 3rd base bar.
It came down to the wire on Tuesday, with Crabs taking victory on a dramatic walk-off fielder’s choice in the late innings that sealed their victory over Medford Rogues. The game was tied at three with Crabs batting in the bottom of the twelfth when Keegan Adams induced Luke Reece to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Crabs opened up an early lead in the third inning when Reece singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Medford evened things up at three in the top of the sixth inning. Caleb Latimer singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Brady Chavez led the Crabs to victory on the pitcher’s mound. The bulldog lasted one inning, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out one and walking zero. Diamond Loosli and Benjy Tucker entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Adams took the loss for the Rogues. The hurler surrendered one run on zero hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one.
Gabe Tanner started the game for Crabs. Tanner went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out eight Josh Sandoval started the game for Medford. The bulldog surrendered three runs on four hits over two and a third innings, striking out one and walking one.
Crabs tallied eight hits. Reece and Colby Lunsford each collected multiple hits for the Crabs. Lunsford and Reece each collected two hits to lead Crabs.
