SAN LUIS OBISPO — Humboldt Crabs defeated San Luis Obispo Blues 5-0 on Friday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Justin Berry got Jay Charleston to hit into a fielder's choice to finish off the game.
Humboldt Crabs opened up scoring in the second inning. Kellen Strahm drove in two when he singled.
One bright spot for San Luis Obispo Blues was a single by Blayne Jones in the second inning.
Alex Pham was the winning pitcher for Humboldt Crabs. He allowed four hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out five. Alexander Trautner and Berry entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Cole Tucker took the loss for San Luis Obispo Blues. He surrendered three runs on six hits over four innings, striking out four.
Humboldt Crabs scattered 12 hits in the game. Bronson Grubbs, Jackson Kritch, McCarthy Tatum, and Strahm all collected multiple hits for Humboldt Crabs. Strahm, Tatum, Kritch, and Grubbs each collected two hits to lead Humboldt Crabs.
Humboldt Crabs was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Ramon Enriquez had the most chances in the field with eight.
Marco Murrilo led San Luis Obispo Blues with two hits in four at bats.
