In walk-off, Crabs lose to Blues in ninth inning

San Luis Obispo — The Humboldt Crabs fell to the San Luis Obispo Blues 9-8 on Saturday on the final play of the game. The Crabs are now 10-6 on the season.
The game was tied at eight with the Blues batting in the bottom of the ninth when catcher Ryan McCarty singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
The Crabs collected 11 hits and the Blues had 14 in the high-scoring affair.
Humboldt opened up scoring in the first inning, when Connor Blair singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
After the Crabs scored two runs in the top of the eighth, the Blues answered with two of their own. The Crabs scored when Johnny Mendoza doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs. The Blues then answered when Dylan Campbell induced Blayne Jones to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored and Justin Lutesdoubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
The San Luis Obispo Blues scored five runs in the seventh inning. The offensive onslaught by the Blues was led by Matt Anderson, Cracknell, and Conagher Sands, all driving in runs in the inning.
Clark Eder #25 earned the win for San Luis Obispo. He lasted one inning, allowing one hit and one run while striking out two and walking zero. Mario Lopez #27 and TJ Mullins entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Justin Berry took the loss for the Humboldt Crabs. He went one-third of an inning, allowing one run on one hit and walking one.
Jared Milch started the game for the Crabs. He went six innings, allowing one run on six hits and striking out four Frankie Scalzo started the game for San Luis Obispo. He allowed six hits and five runs over four innings, striking out two and walking one.
The Crabs saw the ball well today, racking up 11 hits in the game. Kokko Figueiredo, Jackson Kritch, and Chase Larsen all had multiple hits for Humboldt. Larsen, Kritch, and Figueiredo each collected two hits to lead the team.
The Blues collected 14 hits. Anderson, Jay Charleston, Sands, McCarty, and Jones all managed multiple hits for San Luis Obispo.
