ARCATA — The Crabs returned to Arcata Friday afternoon from a two-game series in Redding — a marathon 20-inning game — where the Crabs prevailed 9-7 around 1:40am in the morning.

At 7pm on Friday night at the Arcata ballpark, in front 767 fans, the Seattle Cheney Studs pulled away in the seventh inning to beat the Crabs 3-2. The Studs ended the Crabs 8-game winning streak with the win.

The Crabs-Studs game was tied at one with Seattle batting in the top of the seventh when Brennan Hancock singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Seattle Studs pitchers struck out 11, while Humboldt Crabs sat down 11.

Alex Pham took the loss for Humboldt Crabs. He lasted six and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out 11.

Seattle Studs fired up the offense in the second inning.  Garrett Breda grounded out, scoring one run.

Humboldt Crabs evened things up at one in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Humboldt Crabs scored one run when Jackson Kritch doubled.

Seattle Studs pulled away for good with two runs in the seventh inning. Mitch Viydo got the win for Seattle Studs. He surrendered one run on four hits over six innings, striking out nine.

Brian Bass and Anthony Brady entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.  Brady recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Seattle Studs.

Humboldt Crabs had eight hits in the game.  Kokko Figueiredo and Kritch all managed multiple hits for Humboldt Crabs.  Kritch and Figueiredo each managed two hits to lead Humboldt Crabs

Hancock led Seattle Studs with two hits in four at bats.

The Crabs are almost at full strength. Two players from San Jose State were late additions to the roster. Infielder Santiago "Chagi" Cantu and outfielder Kellen Strahm suited up in Redding as well as the ambidextrous LHP/RHP Alexander Trautner from UC Davis.

The Crabs are waiting on pitcher Jack Enger from the University of Washington who is in Omaha for the College World Series today, catcher Jackson O'Boy from UC Davis and pitcher Jonathan Stroman from Arizona.

They will be joining the team in Healdsburg on June 19-June 20 for a two-game series against former major leaguer Joey Gomes' Prune Packers.
