Crabs lose lead early in 3-0 defeat vs Studs

Crabs will go on the road and play the Healdsburg Prune Packers and SLO Blues next

Arcata — Humboldt Crabs fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 3-0 loss to Seattle Studs on Sunday in front of 1,150 fans. Seattle Studs took the lead on a fielder's choice in the second inning.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Seattle Studs pitchers struck out four, while Humboldt Crabs sat down three.

Seattle Studs got things started in the second inning when Alexander Trautner induced Henry Cheney to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.

A single by Kokko Figueiredo in the first inning was a positive for Humboldt Crabs.

Alex Spahman earned the win for Seattle Studs. He lasted nine innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out four and walking zero.

Trautner took the loss for Humboldt Crabs. He went seven innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out one.

Figueiredo and Bronson Grubbs all had one hit to lead Humboldt Crabs.  Humboldt Crabsdidn't commit a single error in the field. Ramon Enriquez had the most chances in the field with 12.

Seattle Studs collected nine hits on the day.  Landon Riker and Matt Zoba each racked up multiple hits for Seattle Studs.  Riker went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Seattle Studs in hits. Seattle Studs was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Brennan Hancock had the most chances in the field with 14.

The Crabs will go on the road to play the Healdsburg Prune Packers and then a weekend series vs the San Luis Obispo Blues. View the Crabs schedule page for more info.
