The Humboldt Crabs rack up 14 hits to beat the Humboldt B52s in blow-out fashion; B52s unable to score after the fourth inning

Tuesday, June 26, 2018

ARCATA — The Humboldt Crabs easily dispatched Humboldt B52s 9-1 on Tuesday night at the Arcata ball park in front of a packed crowd of 1,142. The Crabs had just returned home from a week-long road trip playing the Healdsburg Prune Packers where they dropped two games and the San Luis Obispo Blues where they took two out of three games.

The Crabs got things started in the second inning when first baseman Ramon Enriquez hit a solo home run to deep center.

The Crabs took the lead after the fourth inning as Jackson O'Boy's sac fly scored another run for the Crabs, going up 2 to 1. The B52s failed to score another run after the fourth, but played errorless ball.

The B52s game highlight was former Crab (2007-2009) and current B52s general manager Jeff Giacomini — wearing the #52 jersey, not his usual #20 jersey — scored the only run in the 4th after doubling to center with two outs. Giacomini advanced to third and eventually scored sliding hard into home plate on a error by Crabs catcher Jackson O'Boy.

The Crabs notched four more runs in the seventh inning and three in the eigth. Jackson Kritsch, McCarthy Tatum, and Connor Blair powered the big inning with RBIs. Kritsch on the night had 3 ABs with 1 R, 1 H, 3 RBIs, 2 BB and 1SO. Kritsch leads the team on the seaon with 24 H, 18 RBIs and a .364 AVG.

Chris Brown pitched the Humboldt Crabs to victory. He went seven innings, allowing one run on six hits, striking out eight and walking zero. University of Washington's Jack Enger threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Enger had just arrived in camp following a trip to Omaha for the College World Series. It looks like the Crabs have found their closer.

Former Crab (2009-2011) pitcher Zach O'Hanen took the loss for Humboldt B52's. He went one inning, allowing three runs on two hits and walking one.

Brett Erwin started the game for Humboldt B52s. He surrendered two runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out six and walking one

Humboldt Crabs racked up 14 hits in the game. Kellen Strahm, Enriquez, and Kokko Figueiredo each had multiple hits for the Humboldt Crabs. Enriquez and Strahm all had three hits to lead the Crabs.

Tommy Gale went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Humboldt B52s in hits.
