REDDING — Humboldt Crabs stole the lead late and defeated Redding Colt 45s 9-7 on Thursday. The game was tied at seven with Humboldt Crabs batting in the top of the twentieth when Chase Larsen singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Humboldt Crabs was boosted by McCarthy Tatum who went 6-for-9 at the plate. Tatum doubled in the fifth, singled in the seventh, singled in the tenth, singled in the fifteenth, singled in the seventeenth, and tripled in the twentieth.

Humboldt Crabs captured the lead in the fourth inning. Jackson Kritch doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Redding Colt 45s evened things up at seven in the bottom of the tenth inning. Jake Gozzo grounded out, scoring one run.

Santiago Cantu earned the victory on the mound for Humboldt Crabs. He lasted four innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out one and walking zero. Alexander Trautner, Kenton Carruthers, and Justin Berry all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.

Andrew Najeeb-Brush started the game for Humboldt Crabs. He allowed four hits and three runs over six innings, striking out nine

Redding Colt 45's smacked two home runs on the day. Daniel Duerte had a long ball in the eighth inning. Gozzo went for the long ball in the fifth inning.

Humboldt Crabs tallied 23 hits on the day. Tatum, Connor Blair, Ramon Enriquez, Kokko Figueiredo, Larsen, and Kritch each managed multiple hits for Humboldt Crabs. Tatum went 6-for-9 at the plate to lead Humboldt Crabs in hits.

Redding Colt 45's collected 13 hits. Coby Zimmerman, Gozzo, Derick Kuhn, Eric Carlson, and Duerte all had multiple hits for Redding Colt 45's. Zimmerman led Redding Colt 45's with three hits in seven at bats.

*** The Crabs return to Arcata today to take on the Seattle Studs in a 3-game series. Saturday's game will start at 2:30pm (gates open at 1:30pm) due to the 28th annual Oyster Festival going on the Arcata Plaza. Parking will be limited, but fans can take the Ofest Shuttles from HSU Parking Lot and Arcata High's parking lot if needed. The Oyster Festival starts at 10am and goes until 5pm.
